Economic development & regeneration
Increasingly, both in the UK and throughout Europe, comprehensive economic development is seen to be inseparable from social inclusion and economic participation. The costs of social exclusion are great, both in terms of supporting the excluded and in terms of economic benefits foregone. The regeneration of areas left behind as the economy changes direction often brings together the economic and social elements of development in a positive and focused way. Focus has a deep and informed understanding of the role of social inclusion in economic development and regeneration, and works with partners both to develop human capacity in a non-discriminatory way and to encourage and support the integration of vulnerable groups into the economy.
